Introduction
Hostazym C contains beta-glucanase. The product is authorised in the EU for use in piglets, chickens for fattening and minor poultry species for fattening.
Manufacturer´s main claims
Hostazym C hydrolyses non-starch-polysaccharides in cereals and, as a result, increases the utilisation of nutrients

Product storage stability
After 24 months of storage in the bag at 25°C, the remaining xylanase activity was above 90 %. When stored for six months at 40°C the recovery rate of xylanase was at least 80%
Storage stability in premix and feed
A premixture containing the Hostazym C was stored for six months at either 25°C or 35°C. The mean rate of recovery was above 95% and 85% at 25°C and 35°C, respectively. Pelleted feed supplemented with Hostazym C was stored for three months at either 25°C or 35°C. The mean rate of recovery was above 89% and above 70% at 25°C and 35°C, respectively.
Heat stability
At pelleting temperatures ranging from 65 - 75°C, more than 90 % of the initial xylanase activity was recovered. The effect of higher pelleting temperatures was not investigated.
Homogeneity
Twenty subsamples of chicken feed supplemented with the product were collected and analysed. The CV ranged from 8.5 to 18.9%.
Physical properties
The Particle size distribution was studied, and it was found that 99% of the particles are bigger than 100 μm.
A dusting potential test showed the 2000 C formulation has a negligible dusting potential. The 7000 C formulation showed a dusting potential of 0.13 g/m3.
