Ronozyme HiPhos

Introduction

The Ronozyme® HiPhos product range is the predecessor to the HiPhorius phytase from the Novozymes DSM alliance. The EFSA scientific opinion was published in June 2012.
Ronozyme® HiPhos is available both in dry and liquid forms. The Ronozyme HiPhos products are available in different concentrations.

Ronozyme® HiPhos products:

Ronozyme® HiPhos (GT) (Granulates) for pelleted feed
Ronozyme® HiPhos (L) (Aqueous liquid) for post-pelleting application

Manufacturer´s main claims
Increases the amount of plant phosphorus available to the animal
Substantial savings on feed costs

Technical specifications of Ronozyme® HiPhos (GT) and (L)

Product storage stability
GT: Retains more than 90 % activity when stored for 18 months at 25 °C
L: When kept in a closed container at 25°C for 12 months, the product retained more than 80 % activity.

Storage stability in premix and feed
GT: In compound feed, 84 to 90 % of the initial activity was retained when the feed was stored at 25 °C for three months.
L: In pelleted feed, more than 78 % of the initial activity was retained when the feed was stored at 25 °C

Heat stability
GT: More than 100 % of the phytase activity was left when the feed was pelleted at 80 °C. Higher pelleting temperatures at 90°C showed a loss of activity of 6 %.
L: The product is intended to be used post-pelleting.

Homogeneity
Subsamples of batches of pelleted feed with the product were analysed to test the capacity to mix homogeneously. The analytical results showed a CV that ranged from 8.7 to 10%

Physical properties
Laser diffraction was used to determine the particle size distribution. The results showed that the particle size ranged from 180 to 500 µm. A dusting potential test showed that the product has an average dusting potential of 9.9 mg/m3.

Carrier
Sodium sulphate, cellulose and dextrin

Handling
The European Commission states: "For users of the additive and premixtures, feed business operators shall establish operational procedures and organisational measures to address potential risks resulting from its use. Where those risks cannot be eliminated by such procedures and measures, the additive and premixtures shall be used with personal breathing, eye and skin protective equipment."
