SelSaf is an organic source of selenium produced by yeast. Selenium is a chemical element with the symbol Se. Selenium is an essential nutrient for animals, however, in large doses it can be toxic. In the animal selenium protects against oxidative damage and infection. It is furthermore a constituent of several selenoproteins that play critical roles in reproduction, thyroid hormone metabolism and DNA synthesis.

Shelf-life After 12 months of storage at either 25°C and 60 % relative humidity or 40°C and 75 % relative humidity the rates of recovery of total Se were 96.1% and 94.9 %, respectively. When incorporated into a premixture or complete feed the recovery of selenium was stable for at least six or four months, respectively, when stored at a temperature 25°C and 60 % humidity

Characterisation of product Tan to light brown  powder with a characteristic odour of baker´s yeast. The dusting potential is low. The proportion particle < 100 μm was 62! and 6.7 % were < 10 μm
