The main enzyme activities in Rovabio® Excel are xylanase and glucanase as well as 17 other enzymatic side-activities. The product is authorised for use in the EU in all poultry species as well as weaned piglets, pigs for fattening and lactating sows. Rovabio® Excel is available in two dry formulations (one for mash feed and one pelleted feed) and in one liquid formulation.

Product storage stability The solid and liquid formulations of the product were stored for 12 months at 20°C or 35°C. The loss of glucanase activity was less than 10% when stored at 20°C whereas the loss of xylanase was 17-18% of the initial activity. At 35°C the recovery of glucanase was 82-88% and the recovery of xylanase was 74-77%. 
The loss of glucanase activity in the liquid product was 6-8% when stored at 20°C whereas the loss of xylanase was 21-28% of the initial activity. At 35°C the recovery of glucanase was 56-58% and the recovery of xylanase was 25-28%  
Storage stability in premix and feed Premixes supplemented with the product (Rovabio® Excel AP) were stored for six months at 20°C or 30°C. The recovered glucanase activity was 95% at 20°C and 49% at 30°C. In the same way the xylanase activity was found to 83% at 20°C and 13% at 30°C. The product formulation Rovabio® Excel AP T-Flex was also investigated. The recovered enzyme activities were slightly higher compared with Rovabio® Excel AP. 
Samples of complete mash supplemented with Rovabio® Excel AP were stored at 20°C, 30°C or 40°C for three months. The activity of xylanase decreased with increasing temperatures. At 20°C 71% xylanase activity was recovered, at 30°C 66% and at 40°C 50%. Glucanase activity was not measured at all temperatures but available data show that the recovery of this enzyme was exceeding 96%.
Analyses of pelleted feed supplemented with the additive showed a slightly higher recovery compared with the mash feed.
Heat stability A diet supplemented with Rovabio® Excel AP was pelleted at 70°C. The xylanase activity was reduced 10% and the glucanase activity 8%. 
Homogeneity The distribution of the additive when added to mash and pelleted feed was studied. Ten sub-samples were collected and the coefficient of variance was below 8% for both the glucanase and xylanase. The distribution of the liquid formulation was also investigated. The analytical results showed a coefficient of variance below 3%
