Product storage stability The solid product was stored at 25°C or 40°C for 24 or 6 months, respectively. After 24 months at 25°C there was no loss of phytase activity. When stored at 40°C for six months there was a loss of 10%.
The liquid product was stored at 5°C or 25°C for 24 or 6 months, respectively. After 24 months at 5°C there was a loss of 12% phytase activity. When stored at 25°C for six months there was a loss of 24%.
Storage stability in feed Premixes supplemented with the solid product were stored for three months at 25°C. The recovered phytase activity was 69%. The stability of the phytase was also studied in mash feed (solid product added) and in pelleted feed (liquid product added). Feed samples were stored for three months at 25°C. Less than 7 % of the initial phytase activity was lost during storage with >93% recovered in the mash feed and >96% in the pelleted feed.
Heat stability Mash feed supplemented with the product was pelleted at 65°C. After pelleting 67% of the initial phytase activity was recovered.
Homogeneity The distribution of the solid product when added to a complete feed for piglets was investigated. Ten sub-samples from the feed were collected and analysed. The results showed a coefficient of variance of 16%. The liquid product was also investigated using three different dosages; 125, 250 or 500 U/kg feed. The CV decreased with increasing dosage, ranging from 8-12% with lowest dosage to 3-4% with the highest dosage.
Carrier Solid product: food grade starch
Liquid product: sodium chloride, glycerol, potassium sorbate, sodium benzoate and water
Handling Breathing protection, safety glasses and gloves shall be used during handling
