Introduction
The main enzymatic activity in Hemicell™ L is mannanase. It is aimed at diets rich in galactomannans and is authorised for use in the EU in poultry. The Hemicell product range also includes the HT version, which is aimed at pelleted feed.

Product storage stability
Samples from three batches of the product were collected to study the stability at five different temperatures: -20°C, 5°C, 25°C, 30°C or 40°C. All the samples were stored for 12 months except the samples stored at 40°C, which were only stored for three months. After three months of storage, the rate of recovery was 100 %, 100 %, 90 %, 80 % and 40 % at -20°C, 5°C, 25°C, 30°C and 40°C, respectively. After 12 months of storage, the enzymatic activity was 101 %, 97 %, 51 % and 24 %, with the highest recovery and lowest temperatures.
Storage stability in premix and feed
Three batches of the product were used to study the stability of the enzyme when sprayed onto mash feed or crumble feed. Samples of feed supplemented with the enzyme were collected and stored for three months at -20°C, 25°C and 30°C. Feed samples were also kept at 40°C but only for one month. When the storage period ended, the residual enzymatic activity that could be detected was 100%, 90%, 80% and 77% for -20°C, 25°C, 30°C and 40°C, respectively.
Heat stability
For post-pelleting application
Homogeneity
Ten subsamples were studied to determine the product's capacity to be distributed homogeneously. The analytical results showed that the CV was below 8%.
Carrier
Sorbitol, monosodium glutamate, sodium chloride and calcium chloride
Handling
The European Commission states: "For users of the additive and premixtures, feed business operators shall establish operational procedures and organisational measures to address potential risks resulting from its use. Where those risks cannot be eliminated or reduced to a minimum by such procedures and measures, the additive and premixtures shall be used with personal protective equipment, including breathing protection."
