Introduction
Ronozyme WX is an enzyme product containing xylanase, primarily designed for use in animal feed. It is derived from a microbial source and functions by breaking down xylan, a major component of plant cell wall hemicelluloses. This enzymatic activity helps improve the digestibility of fibrous feed ingredients, enhancing nutrient availability for animals. Ronozyme WX is typically used to support better growth performance in livestock by improving the efficiency of feed utilization. It can be applied in various animal species, including poultry and pigs, where it supports overall digestion and feed conversion. The product is formulated to be stable under typical processing conditions in animal feed.

Product storage stability
The manufacturing process, enzyme composition, and formulations of Ronozyme WX have not been modified, ensuring that the physical properties and stability remain unaffected by changes in production strain. Previous assessments of its physico-chemical properties, stability, and homogeneity are still deemed valid. Updated data specifically focused on the shelf-life of the additive formulations highlight the following results:
-
RONOZYME® WX CT:
-
At 25°C: Recovery rates ranged from 88-99% after 6 months, no loss after 12 months, and 78-100% after 24 months.
-
At 40°C: Recovery rates were 83-86% after 6 months, 73-92% after 12 months, and 78-100% after 24 months.
-
-
RONOZYME® WX L:
-
At 10°C: No losses observed after 6, 12, or 24 months.
-
At 25°C: No losses after 6 or 12 months; recoveries ranged from 85-91% after 24 months.
-
At 40°C: Recovery rates were 84-86% after 6 months and 56-60% after 12 months.
-
This data demonstrates that Ronozyme WX formulations exhibit stable shelf-life properties under varying storage conditions, particularly at lower temperatures.
Storage stability in premix and feed
-
Premixes: The stability of RONOZYME® WX (CT) in premixtures was evaluated in three batches, stored for 6 months at 25°C. The recovery of xylanase activity was 86%.
-
Feed (Mash and Pelleted Forms):
-
Stability was assessed in complete feed for chickens for fattening (initial enzyme activity: ~200 FXU/kg for solid, ~150 FXU/kg for liquid).
-
After 3 months at 25°C, recovery rates of xylanase activity were 87% for the mash feed and 91% for the pelleted feed. No enzyme activity losses were observed in pelleted feed supplemented with RONOZYME® WX (L).
-
Heat stability
In feed supplemented with RONOZYME® WX (CT) and subjected to heat treatment at 75°C and 90°C, recovery values of xylanase activity were 87% and 88%, respectively.
Homogeneity
The ability of RONOZYME® WX to distribute evenly within feed was assessed during stability studies. The findings indicate:
-
For RONOZYME® WX (CT) in pelleted feed, the coefficient of variation (CV) ranged from 6.2% to 13.5%, reflecting acceptable levels of homogeneity.
-
For RONOZYME® WX (L) in pelleted feed, the CV ranged from 4.9% to 6.5%, demonstrating a slightly higher degree of uniform distribution compared to the solid formulation.
These results confirm that both formulations of RONOZYME® WX display satisfactory mixing capabilities within pelleted feed.

Handling
The European Commission states: "For users of the additive and premixtures, feed business operators shall establish operational procedures and organisational measures to address potential risks resulting from its use. Where those risks cannot be eliminated by such procedures and measures, the additive and premixtures shall be used with personal protective equipment, including breathing protection, eye protection and skin protection.
