Rovabio Advance

Introduction
Rovabio® Advance is an enzymatic feed additive designed to enhance the digestibility of animal feed. It features a unique enzymatic profile, including multi-carbohydrase and debranching enzymes, which have been tested under various conditions. The product aims to improve animal performance and profitability. It is suitable for use in the feed of poultry, pigs, and aquaculture species.

Manufacturer´s main claims

  • Feed Digestibility: The product is said to enhance the availability of nutrients in feed, particularly improving the utilisation of net energy in corn and wheat-based diets. This leads to better digestive absorption of key nutrients such as starch, protein, and fat.

  • Performance and Profitability: It is claimed to improve the feed conversion ratio and body weight gain in animals. Additionally, it is suggested to decrease morbidity and mortality rates.

  • Feed Formulation Flexibility: The product allows for the use of a wider range of raw materials in feed formulations at higher inclusion levels for both poultry and swine.

  • Gut Health: It is reported to positively influence gut integrity and the microbiome by promoting beneficial bacteria growth through the production of certain oligosaccharides with prebiotic properties.

  • Environmental Sustainability: The product claims to reduce the quantity of raw materials used in feed, leading to a lower carbon footprint and better land use. It also suggests a reduction in nutrient excretions, such as nitrogen and phosphorus, into manure.

Product storage stability

The shelf-life of two formulations was studied over a period of 12 months.

  • Sample Details: Samples of 30 grams or milliliters from three batches were used.
  • Storage Conditions:
    • Packaging: Solid formulations in zip bags and liquid formulations in bottles.
    • Environment: Stored at temperatures of 5°C or 20°C with 60% relative humidity.
  • Measurements: Enzyme activities were measured in viscosity and DNS units.
  • Results:
    • No loss in enzyme activity for samples stored at 5°C for 12 months.
    • At 20°C, enzyme activity loss was ≤ 8% for the solid formulation and ≤ 11% for the liquid formulation after 12 months.

Storage stability in premix and feed

The stability of ROVABIO® ADVANCE POWDER was evaluated when it was added to two different complete premixes for pigs, both containing choline chloride. The study involved storing samples under the following conditions:

  • Storage Duration: 6 months
  • Storage Temperatures: 20°C or 30°C

Results for the first premix tested:

  • At 20°C:
    • Mean loss of 24% for xylanase activity
    • Mean loss of 13% for glucanase activity
  • At 30°C:
    • Mean loss of 36% for xylanase activity
    • Mean loss of 25% for glucanase activity

Results for the second premix tested:

  • At 20°C:
    • No loss of enzyme activity
  • At 30°C:
    • Mean loss of 15% for xylanase activity
    • Mean loss of 10% for glucanase activity
  • The stability of ROVABIO® ADVANCE POWDER was assessed when it was added to mash feed for pigs, introduced via a premix containing choline chloride. The study involved storing samples under the following conditions:

    • Storage Duration: 4 months
    • Storage Temperatures: 20°C and 30°C
    • Packaging: Closed packages

    Results after 4 months:

    • At 20°C:
      • Loss in xylanase activity: 7%
      • No loss in glucanase activity
    • At 30°C:
      • Loss in xylanase activity: 4%
      • No loss in glucanase activity
    •

Heat stability

  • Effect of Heat Treatment at 70°C:

    • Loss in xylanase activity: 16%
    • No loss in glucanase activity

The stability of ROVABIO® ADVANCE LIQUID was evaluated when it was sprayed onto pelleted feed for fattening poultry at the recommended use level. The study involved storing samples under the following conditions:

  • Storage Duration: 4 months
  • Storage Temperatures: 20°C and 30°C
  • Packaging: Closed packages

Results after 4 months:

  • At 20°C:
    • Loss in xylanase activity: 7%
    • Loss in glucanase activity: 8%
  • At 30°C:
    • Loss in xylanase activity: 4%
    • Loss in glucanase activity: 2%

Homogeneity

The ability to evenly distribute enzymes in feed was assessed in a study by analysing 10 samples from the stability studies. The results showed the following coefficients of variation:

  • For xylanase activity:

    • 4.6% in mash diets
    • 6.8% in pelleted diets
  • For glucanase activity:

    • 11.6% in mash diets
    • 7.0% in pelleted diets

These coefficients indicate the consistency of enzyme distribution in the different types of feed.
